Features Of A Telescopic Handler

Telescopic handler is popular machinery which is used in agriculture, construction, and many other industries. Its function is similar to a forklift but it is more of a crane. It has telescopic boom which can be extended upward and forward. Pallet forks are most important attachment of telescopic handler. While at its basement other attachments can be mounted like lifting hook, bucket, pallet etc.

These telehandler are used to move loads where conventional forklift can not reach. But its biggest advantage is also its disadvantage. As working radius increases, its capacity to lift the load decreases. That’s why most of the telescopic handlers have sensors which work as monitor if the limit exceeds.

Due to its limitation a qualified operator is required to do the task in a safely manner. There is need of a proper training for all those who want to operate telescopic handler. Although manufactures have improved computer application and design of telescopic handler, while reducing operators workload but this does not reduced the need and importance of qualified operator.

Many brands of telescopic handlers are available in market. Following are names of its most common manufacturers.

  • Caterpillar (USA)
  • Merlo (Italy)

  • JCB (England)
