12 Crane safety tips

Crane is used for moving large and heavy loads in construction and manufacturing industries. No doubt it makes work easy but at the same time it poses serious threat if it is not used properly. So it is necessary to take precautions to avoid any risk.


  • You should know the rules of using crane. For that purpose you should periodically review the all rules.
  • You should also participate in all safety programs. This will help you during work.
  • Before starting a work, check out the hook. If its shape is not maintained then it’s a sign of internal damage.
  • Check out the load chain. It should be straight to avoid any damage.
  • Avoid jogging and snagging a load while lifting.
  • If there are bends, breaks or kinks in load chain then avoid to using it.
  • Be careful when moving over to uneven grounds. It can cause to crane bob.
  • Don’t leave unattended load. It’s your responsibility.
  • In power lines area don’t operate power crane with fast speed. Operate it with slow to normal speed.
  • Make it sure that break components are working properly. All nuts are tightened.
  • Balance load carefully.
  • Before lifting any load you must know hoist rating. Carry load according to that.
By taking these simple precautions one can work safely and can minimize the risk.
